If you want authentic Mexican food this is the place. I've traveled all over Mexico and this is the closest thing to being in Mexico you'll find.
The home made salsa is the best anywhere. The food is good and inexpensive.
If you want the typical American-Mexican atmosphere and food go to Fernando's or any of the other thousand or so Mexican places around.
Some of my family agree with me and love the place. Others would just as soon eat a sandwich. You'll have to decide for yourself. If you go, be sure and check out the restrooms.

My family and I love this place they have very kind workers, great food, and is in the heart of Brandon. One day I was getting bullied at school and so my mom picked me up and we got Azteca. It really made my day the workers brought me a free dessert to cheer me up. Would Definitely recommend!!!

The best place to go for authentic Mexican food! I hate Tex-mex and grew up in California! My family has been eating here since 1993! If you want real Mexican this is where you eat? !

    Update---
For the first time in almost 30years I'm extremely disappointed in the food. I don't know what's going on, the food was so bad that I'm wondering did it change ownership, we're the cooks on strike, was this a new chef in training? The food was horrible and this has been a family staple for decades since we moved back to MS from SoCal. Now I'm wondering where will we eat real Mexican food now? The tamales with the Chile con carne was odd, the color looked like vomit and it was bland, also they cooked the onions when forever the onions have always been raw! The chips were a THICK cut and not the freshly cut and daily made thin cut from scratch chips they are known for, the salsa was bland and horrible! I asked was it out of the cab and she said the peppers were a bad batch? But it was also missing onions! The food was horrible! The chihuahua tacos (my favorite) were BLAND! The meat had zero seasoning and was dry! The best thing we are that day we're the retired beans, which I never ate before because everything else would always be so pleasing I never had room for the rice and beans. I want to know what happened! Is this place under new owners? Why was the food terrible after almost 30years of perfection!

I'm from out of town and was staying at a nearby hotel so I decided to eat here. First off, the server/cashier was friendly when I came in. I was told to sit where I wanted. As soon as she left the room, a boy about 10 years old who was lying in a booth sat up and started yelling at me, saying "hey whitey, look, look at me, look under the table, why are you ignoring me whitey." I should have left right then, but I had traveled all day and was hungry as this is the only non fast food restaurant around.  When the server came back with chips (too salty), she started yelling at the boy (her son) who just laughed and ran outside. I wanted a margarita but didn't know (and can't believe it exists) that Rankin County is a "dry county". Again, I should have left then. I ordered the avocado salad. She then we t outside and yelled at the boy to get back inside. The only 2 other customers were rolling their eyes and irritated as well.
As for the "salad": greasy tortilla bowl, tons of iceberg lettuce, a couple tomatoes, about a pound of shredded cheese, and tons of guacamole clearly from a can. I ate 2 bites of the guacamole, I asked for a to go container (who uses Styrofoam anymore?!) packed it up, then threw it away when I got back to the hotel.
Horrible service, never been called "whitey" (I'm assuming because I'm white, but so was the kid), overpriced, and just bad business.

Literally the worst restaurant I've ever been to. How on earth is this place such a high rating?? I guess the workers have been reviewing it to keep the review rating high because there's no way actual customers have rated this place well. If I could rate this place zero stars I would. My husband couldn't even finish his food. The waitress (one) seemed overworked and confused. How is this place still open? Usually hole in the wall Mexican places are pretty good but NOPE. Don't listen to any of these reviews but the negative, honestly. I'm very sad to have wasted my money here. I've never reviewed anything IN MY LIFE but this one I just had to warn y'all about!
